So, What Is Permanent Makeup?

Permanent makeup is done by implanting pigment underneath the skin. We use a rotary machine with disposable needle cartridges through which we inject the ink into the dermis. The results of the treatment are designs that look like real makeup.

During permanent makeup procedures at Eclat Spa, we use 2 types of topical anesthetics containing lidocaine: blt cream and anesthetic gel (safe for eyes). The use of 2 types of topical anesthetics allows maximum comfort during permanent makeup procedures.

At Eclat Spa, we use certified sterile pigments PermaBlend which are designed specifically for permanent makeup. PermaBlend pigments are safe, non-fading in the sun, giving beautiful guaranteed results.

During the permanent makeup procedure, it is very important how deep in the skin the pigment is implanted. For permanent makeup, optimal depth for pigment implantation is much more shallow than during traditional tattoo allowing for beautiful colour to appear on the skin without turning blue or grey as happens with tattoos. At Eclat Spa, we use professional tattoo and pmu machines with excellent control over the needle which allows for proper implantation of pigment at optimal depth in the skin.

Permanent Makeup Lips product

Permanent makeup can be applied to different parts of the face and body. At Eclat Spa, we mainly specialize in facial permanent makeup treatments.

The technicians at Eclat Spa are well-versed in the different types of permanent makeup.

A Little History about Permanent Makeup

Most people don’t know that permanent makeup has been a thing for many decades. The first documented case of permanent makeup was using it as a permanent blusher in the UK in 1902.  Funny enough, salons offered permanent makeup at the time as “vegetable dyes” that they implanted under the clients’ skin.

However, permanent makeup gained popularity in the 80s. Tattooed eyebrows, lips, and lashline became all the rage in the beauty industry.

Since then, permanent makeup has evolved tremendously. In the last 10 years, permanent makeup made its comeback in the beauty world, bigger and better than ever. New tattoo techniques and PMU machines have entered the scene. This meant that the demand for permanent makeup grew exponentially, and more and more people now seek permanent makeup. It’s the go-to beauty enhancement that gives you amazing results without the need to go under the knife! That is if it’s performed by an experienced permanent makeup artist.

Permanent Makeup: Eyebrows

Applying eyebrow makeup each morning can be extremely frustrating. Imagine not having to worry about the struggle of achieving the perfect brows every day. That is what you’ll get with a permanent eyebrow solution. Permanent brows enhance your natural beauty and give you picture-perfect eyebrows without the use of makeup or eye pencils. This procedure is quick and relatively inexpensive, making it a sure bet for those in need of a brow enhancement.

Choosing the Perfect Brows for You

There are many different methods and styles to choose from when it comes to getting your brows done. At Eclat Spa, we perform three different types of permanent brow techniques:

  • Powder brows
  • Ombre brows
  • Solid brows

The type of permanent brow method we perform depends on the look you’re going for. Our Richmond Hill permanent makeup artist will give you their recommendation on the brow technique most suitable for you.

The Benefits of Permanent Brows

Permanent eyebrows not only enhance your beauty but also bring many benefits to your daily routine. The advantages of permanent brows include:

Permanent Makeup vs. Microblading

Many people confuse between permanent makeup and microblading. They even use the two terms interchangeably. The truth of the matter is that permanent and microblading are actually very different procedures.

Application & Technique

The biggest difference between permanent makeup and microblading is the method of application. Permanent makeup uses needles stacked at the tip of a rotary tattoo machine. The needles then vibrate on the surface of the skin, implanting the permanent makeup pigment in the process. The pigment is implanted into the skin very shallow as oppose to traditional tattoo where pigment injected much dipper into the skin. Shallow distribution of pigment during permanent makeup procedure allows pigments to look naturally and does not change colour to undesired shades of blue or purple

In microblading, however, a sharp, slanted blade is used to create strokes in the brows to induce the pigment into the skin. So microbladed brows look a lot more sparse than permanent brows, while permanent brows look more solid. This process compared to permanent makeup is more traumatic and more risky if done improperly.

Scarring

Another difference between permanent makeup and microblading is possibility of scarring after procedure. Permanent makeup is very safe with minimal to non risk of scars post-procedure. Microblading, on the other hand, has moderate to significant risk of scarring especially with repeated procedures.

Longevity and need for touch ups

Permanent makeup if done properly lasts longer than microblading. And this is because during permanent makeup procedure pigment is implanted in skin in a denser manner. Permanent makeup being much less traumatic to skin than microblading allows for more pigment to be retained when skin heals. Therefore, permanent brow makeup will last longer depending on how well you take care of your eyebrows.

Microblading, on the other hand, causes more trauma to skin, and pigment is not retained as well as post permanent makeup. As a result, microbladed brows are likely to fade within the first six months – year. As well, microbladed brows usually require multiple touch ups. Whereras, usually only one or no touch up is needed to make sure permanent makeup brows look fabulous.

It is for these three reasons that we specialize (and highly recommend) permanent makeup over microblading. Permanent makeup is a simply more cost-effective solution to uneven, sparse eyebrows.

Permanent Makeup: Eyeliner

Say goodbye to raccoon eyes and hello to picture-perfect eyeliner. Every. Single. Day!

The Benefits of Permanent Eyeliner

Clearly, the most outstanding benefit of permanent eyeliner is that the procedure will save you a lot of time and hassle. You can forego applying eyeliner makeup to your eyes in the morning because you simply know your eyeliner looks flawless!

Another benefit to permanent eyeliner is that it can be used to enhance your features and give your eyes definition. And there are many different eyeliner application techniques for every eye shape. The experts at Eclat Spa are more than glad to offer you advice on the best eyeliner style for you.

Permanent Makeup: Lips

Finding the right shade of lipstick that will last the entire day is a problem for many women. A great solution to this is to invest in permanent makeup for lips. This treatment gives your lips a beautiful tint that enhances your natural lip colour. Permanent lips done by a professional PMU artist is a safe bet if you’re looking to get the perfectly-lined lips you’ve always wanted.

Creating Your Perfect Lips

There are a few different options to consider with a permanent lip procedure. Are you looking to add more colour, restore youth, or enhance definition? Whichever option you prefer, we’ll make sure to work closely with you in determining what you want from the results. The lips are a sensitive area. Therefore, this does tend to be one of the more painful permanent makeup solutions. Don’t let this scare you, though. With a topical anesthetic, the permanent lip procedure is practically a breeze. We want you to have an amazing experience when you visit our salon for any service. And a big part of ensuring this is reducing the pain that comes with permanent makeup as much as possible.

The Benefits of Permanent Makeup for Lips

Permanent lips can bring so much beauty to your face. Full lips and youthfulness are just a few of the added benefits of this procedure. The many advantages include:

  • Enhanced lip colour and definition
  • No need to reapply lipstick throughout the day
  • Long-lasting results, with touchups needed every 3 to 5 years
  • Restores the beauty of natural lips

Permanent Candy Lips vs. Obmre Lips with Lipliner

There are different options for permanent makeup for lips. You can choose different styles for your lips ranging from light natural looking Lip BLush to a more pronounced colour application like permanent lipstick. Lip liner can be added to any of the techniques for permanent makeup lips.

Permanent Blush Lips/Candy Lips/Aquarelle Lips

Permanent Blush or Candy Lips, aka Aquarelle Lips, is filling the lips with a pigment that’s usually close to your natural lip colour. What this does is give pale lips a pop of colour that lasts throughout the day. This treatment, however, requires intense aftercare because we tend to move our lips a lot.

Our Richmond Hill permanent makeup artist will give you the proper instructions to follow after your treatment.

Permanent Ombre Lips – Liner and Lip shading

Just like the name suggests, permanent lip liner is only applied to the outlines of the lips. What this procedure does is line the lips with permanent pigment to create symmetry in the lips. It also makes the process of applying actual lipstick much easier. Lip’s shading is done as well to enhance natural beauty of client’s lips.

Permanent Makeup: Camouflage

A permanent makeup camouflage is a great way to improve discoloration in the skin. If you have scars, uneven skin tones, or stretch marks, this procedure is an excellent solution for you. Simply put, a camouflage treatment is a permanent concealer. As a result, you never have to use makeup products to cover up any spots or pigmentation problems ever again.

A Specialized Procedure

So, who should get permanent makeup camouflage? If you have scars, discoloration, or pigmentation issues, this may be something you should consider. For details on the specialized areas, please see the list below.
